Postdoctoral Research Positions in Vascular Molecular and Cell Biology at Johns Hopkins University, USA

Postdoctoral Research positions in Vascular Molecular and Cell Biology are available within the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Positions are available to investigate signaling mechanisms of vascular cell function and vascular disease.
Our laboratory takes a multidisciplinary approach to investigate vascular function ranging from molecular analysis of cell signaling mechanisms in cultured microvascular smooth muscle cells to image analysis (multi-photon laser scanning microscopy) of signaling systems in isolated perfused arterioles. Major projects are analyzing the molecular mechanisms underlying vascular disease (including hypertension, arteriosclerosis and Raynaud`s disease), as well as mechanisms regulating normal vascular function.
Qualified applicants should have a strong background in vascular biology, with considerable experience and expertise in molecular and cell biology. A generous salary ($36,996 to $51,036 per year, commensurate with experience), and benefits package is available to successful applicants.

Good luck,

PhD Studentship in 3D Computer Modelling - Technische Universiteit Eindhoven

PhD Student “Tracers take the tube” Technische Universiteit Eindhoven Department of Applied Physics Eindhoven, (Noord-Brabant), 40 hours per week Technische Universiteit Eindhoven
Job description —————————— The PhD project concerns an experimental study, with substantial theoretical and numerical aspects, focused on the understanding of particle advection in 3D time-periodic viscous flows. For this purpose a high-resolution 3D Particle Tracking Velocimetry method (3D-PTV), employing a four-camera set-up and dedicated software (developed at ETH, Zurich), will be adapted and used for highly-accurate measurement of particle paths, particle displacements and velocity field. These experimental data will enable computation of the 3D flow map and the associated deformation tensor. This flow map and deformation tensor, in turn, will enable identification of the coherent structures (including the small-scale tubes mentioned above) that make up the topology and determine the particle advection. Furthermore, the 3D flow map will admit long-term particle tracking by which the quantitative effect of Resonance-Induced Merger upon the particle advection can be determined. The experimental study thus will include laboratory experiments and sophisticated numerical data-processing.
Requirements —————————— Required education/skills:University Graduate We are looking for an enthusiastic physicist, mechanical engineer or applied mathematician with an affinity to fluid dynamics, flow-measurement techniques, and numerical simulations. The ideal candidate has experience with the design and performance of laboratory experiments, development and utilisation of numerical tools and fundamental studies on physical flow phenomena.
