Saat ini saya juga sedang berusaha untuk apply scholarship tersebut dan saya sudah dapatkan informasinya, bahwa untuk apply berkas aplikasi yang sudah diisi harus dilegalisir / disahkan oleh Depdiknas terlebih dahulu (pada halaman terakhir), yaitu dengan langsung menghubungi Bpk Edi Sukartono (021-5711144). Untuk selanjutnya baru dapat diserahkan langsung ke Singapore Embassy. Memang untuk melalui ini ternyata lumayan berbelit, saya lebih dulu di’lempar’ sana sini, apalagi status saya sekarang di luar kota jakarta, jadi informasi yang bisa dapat hanya by phone.
Pada aplikasi tertulis jika terpilih, masih akan dilakukan tes pada fakultas yang dipilih,yang saya tanyakan bagaimana proses tes tersebut, apakah di universitas terkait atau hanya perwakilan di kedutaan saja…. Semoga informasi ini bermanfaat dan terima kasih

Alhamdulilah, Thn ini saya mendapat panggilan untuk interview ADS untuk PhD.
Kebetulan pada saat saya kirim form ADS dulu saya telah sempat mendapat balasan email dari salah satu prof di univ di australia, namun baru satu kali balasan untuk perkenalan dan memberikan respon yang positif atas CV yang saya kirimkan. tapi saya belum mengirimkan full proposal saya kesana.
Sebenarnya saya juga mendapat balesan dari staff lain (lain univ) yang responnya lebih cepat cuman beliau belum profesor, nah beliau ini lebih antusias dalam berkorespondensi dgn saya, sehinga bisa lebih fokus dan relatif mendalam,
dalam interview ADS untuk PhD nanti kita diharapkan membawa bukti korespondensi dengan staff di Australian univ,
1. Pertanyaan saya , apakah boleh saya membawa bukti korespondensi namun staff univ di Australia yang saya kontak berbeda dengan yang saya tulis di ADS proposal walaupun tema risetnya serupa dan beda universitas ? 2. Apakah boleh saya bawa korespondensi dari kedua kandidat supervisor tsb ? atau salah satu saja ?
3. Apakah yang dimaksud dengan korespondensi dengan universitas ? Mengingat disitu dicantumkan juga diluar korespondensi dengan calon supervisor ?

Dear Colleagues,

Two PhD scholarship positions are available at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore to conduct research related to risk management and application of financial engineering concepts to PPP/BOT schemes. For this, I seek your help to disseminate the information to interested applicants. To ensure synergy in research, there are currently a few students working on other topics related to PPP/BOT initiatives and the successful applicant will have a chance to interact and share ideas in a research group.

Some general information has been summarized below, but the details are given in the attached documents for the two respective topics.

Research Topic 1 - Application of Financial Engineering to Infrastructure Project Investments:
Financial engineering plays an important role in modern risk and investment management. In the context of infrastructure investments, the application of financial engineering principles is not unprecedented and has been instrumental to the securitization of debt and equity holdings in infrastructure projects/assets. The principles however may be extended beyond such applications and coupled with other areas of risk management. For example, since each major infrastructure project originates from a different geographical regime and is associated with a different set of market and unique risks, financial evaluation and pricing of risk exposure of infrastructure projects may be explored and structured at the “pool” level rather than a single project level. The scope of this research would include the study of securitization and risk management practices in other sectors such as real estate and explore how it could be applied to the context of large-scale infrastructure project investments worldwide.

Research Topic 2 - Political, Legal, and Regulatory Risks in Public-Private Partnerships:
Infrastructure projects are exposed to numerous risks during the project life cycle of up to 30 years. In particular, recent international developments show the increasing exposure of infrastructure projects
to political, legal, and regulatory risks (PLRR). Project sponsors, lenders, and insurers need to assess these risks for setting aside contingency budgets, detect changes in the credit quality, valuate insurances, and design hedging strategies. Due to the large scale of PPPs, PPPs may involve many parties from local to an international lender and investor structure and multi-national project companies. Political, legal and regulatory risks (PLRR) affect the financial structure of such PPPs. Objectives of this research may include: (1) identifying and quantifying the PLRR; (2) mapping the effect of PLRR on PPP contracts; (3) determining the trigger structure for PLRR; (4) developing a tool for mitigating the PLRR; (5) assessing the effect of PLR on the bankability and viability of PPPs.
Close collaboration with market and industry participants is expected. A strong quantitative focus with supporting qualitative methods is desired.

Research Scholarships:
The successful applicants will be sponsored under the NTU research scholarship scheme. Based on current terms and conditions, the scholarship provides a monthly allowance of Singapore Dollar 1,400~1,500 (up to 3 years) plus exemption from tuition/research fees. A further top-up to the stipend amount may possibly be given by the Centre for Infrastructure Systems of the school.

The Netherlands Ministry for Development Cooperation’s Master’s and Doctoral scholarships in Sustainable Poverty Reduction
The opportunity
Students from Asian developing nations are offered the opportunity to pursue their master’s or doctoral studies in fields relating to sustainable poverty reduction at one of Asia ’s leading postgraduate institutions.
The scholarships
The Netherlands Ministry for Development Cooperation and the Asian Institute of Technology have partnered to offer a program called “Human Resource Development for Asian Partner Countries” from October 2006 to December 2009. Master’s and doctoral scholarships will be provided to students from seven partner countries of the Netherlands in Asia, i.e., Afghanistan , Bangladesh , Indonesia , Mongolia , Pakistan , Sri Lanka and Vietnam .
The scholarships cover the costs of degree programs in fields relevant to sustainable development, environmental protection and the promotion of gender equity. The three focal areas are water engineering and management, rural development and sustainable use of natural resources, and urban environmental management.
Water engineering and management includes waterways and coastal engineering, irrigation engineering, water resources and water supply drainage. Expertise areas also include water transport, flood control, beach protection, erosion, water supply and wastewater collection and sewerage treatment systems, and integrated watershed development management.
Rural development and sustainable use of natural resources addresses rural development and the need to consider economic productivity versus the necessity to conserve rural areas. In AIT many programs aim to contribute to technology to stimulate rural developments including agricultural and food engineering, bioprocess technology, aquaculture and aquatic resources management, pulp and paper technology, natural resources management, as well as regional and rural development planning.
Urban environmental management addresses the sustainable development of urbanized areas as many of the partner countries are facing rapid urbanization. Thus, the concerns should address urban economy and living environment, conservation of urban natural environments and greening, prevention of environmental deterioration, impacts of urbanization, urban transportation, urban affordable sanitation and sewage treatment. Urban environmental management focuses on the utilization of human and other resources to improve and maintain the quality of urban areas.
Details
• Scholarship recipients will be selected according to AIT’s admission criteria, rules and regulations to ensure that the most suitable candidates are admitted based on an assessment of the needs in the Netherlands ‘ seven partner countries in Asia .
• At least 40 per cent of the scholarships will be offered to women candidates.
• After successful completion of graduate studies and professional training in AIT, the scholarship recipients are obliged to return to their home countries for strengthening institutional capacities and contributing in building sustainable societies.
• Recipients are required to conduct thesis research on topics relevant to their respective home country’s development needs incorporating environmental protection and sustainable development concerns.
• A scholarships provides grants for tuition and fees, monthly stipend, medical insurance, educational visa and one round trip air travel.
• For the master’s program, preference will be given to staff of public sector agencies, government departments, training institutions and universities.
• Doctoral scholarships are available only to candidates who are lecturers or university teaching staff. Doctoral degree program candidates must be certified by their local employers to study abroad and must have re-employment contracts to ensure that they return back to work after their completion of the doctoral degree program at AIT. Applicants must provide a relevant research proposal and demonstrate a strong academic background and experience.
• All recipients of the scholarships should take at least one course on gender and development issues.

anda tidak perlu menjual rumah. dari pengalaman saya, stipend dan living allowance dari ADS paling lama seminggu sudah dapat kita terima. jadi waktu mbak rina sampai Ausie langsung buka rekening bank, agar stipend dan living allowance bisa langsung ditransfer ke rekening kita. biaya untuk buka rekening $0 untuk student. +- 1000 AUD dollar saya kira cukup untuk initial cost dengan catatan kita belum bawa keluarga waktu pertama kali datang. keluarga bisa menyusul ke Ausie sebulan kemudian. untuk temperory accommodation mbak rina bisa kontak dengan student indo atau PPI di mana mbak rina mo study.

Dear Mas Firman Susilo Hidayat,
Senang sekali menerima surat dari Mas Firman. KAIST memberikan beasiswa untuk program studi S1, S2, S3, sampai post-doc. Setahu saya, hampir seluruh mahasiswa di KAIST mendapat beasiswa, baik parsial (mulai dari pembebasan sebagian uang kuliah) maupun penuh (termasuk bantuan biaya hidup).
Mas bisa menyatakan minat Mas untuk memperoleh beasiswa dalam lembar aplikasi. Nah nanti, kalau sudah mendapat pernyataan diterima, biasanya dijelaskan pula detail beasiswa yang disediakan. Untuk menjamin kelangsungan beasiswa, mahasiswa diminta menunjukkan dua hal: prestasi dan dedikasi.
Di departemen saya, setiap akhir semester diberikan hadiah (kelihatannya ‘happy money’) dan sertifikat bagi mahasiswa yang memperoleh nilai tertinggi, belajar paling tekun, dan hasil research terbaik. Oh ya, KAIST juga menyediakan beasiswa special bagi mahasiswa dengan GPA tertinggi.

Selain beasiswa, Mas juga diberi kesempatan untuk mengikuti konferensi nasional (Korea Selatan) dan internasional, serta publikasi nasional dan internasional. Ada sejumlah skema pembiayaan, saya tidak bisa menjelaskan secara detail di sini, namun intinya Mas tidak perlu pusing dengan biaya. Yang utama di sini adalah kualitas research dan paper yang Mas buat. Sebagai tambahan, Mas juga bisa dilibatkan dengan proyek kerja-sama dengan industri. Selain memperoleh pengalaman, biasanya juga disediakan honor.
Pertanyaan selanjutnya, menurut teman saya, perguruan tinggi di Korea Selatan yang mempunyai program studi kelautan adalah Seoul National University. Ada tempat lain yang saya tahu mempelajari Naval Architecture, rasanya yang satu ada di bawah departemen pertahanan, sementara yang lainnya, pernah saya kunjungi waktu proyek di galangan kapal Oelsan (Hyundai Heavy Industry) … sayangnya saya lupa namanya … nanti kalau ingat saya hubungi ya …

The Centre is the world’s largest research institute devoted to the study of the History of Medicine. It invites applications from prospective PhD students for 3 years commencing September 2007. Candidates should normally have a Masters degree in a relevant subject. The Centre anticipates being able to offer two or three research studentships worth c. £19,000 pa plus the payment of “home” fees. Applications to study without a scholarship are welcome.

Mungkin bisa langsung coba ke sana. Emang susah hubunginnya lewat telp. Trus sesudah itu kita sendiri yang bawa ke Embassy, Mereka yang bakal ngurusin prosedur lbh lanjutnya.
